New digital release

To commemorate Lili Boulanger, who died on 15th March 1918 at the age of 24, I have released an EP with a set of her piano pieces.

Trois Morceaux pour Piano were written in 1914 in Rome, where the composer was living after winning Prix de Rome for composition. She was the first woman ever to be awarded the prize (and at just 18).

Inspired by Rome’s gardens, the music takes on a deeply personal expression of joy and delight mixed with occasional dark and foreboding feelings and thoughts.

A beautiful and passionate set of pieces by a very young, talented and determined individual. It is also perfect music for Springtime!
